Drug Uses

Ciprofloxacin/Generic Baycip belong to a family of antibiotic medicines referred to as Fluoroquinolones. These two antibiotics are taken as potent combatants in order to fight the most complex and thorny bacterial infections and the medical community reserves them as a last resort medication. They are only prescribed in the event of a life threatening illness.

Drug Class Mechanism

Generic Baycip or Ciprofloxacin are a powerful anti bacterial drug - not routinely prescribed - to fight severe infections in the system. It belongs to the fluoroquinolones group of antibiotics and as a last resort medication to target severe infectious disease. The medication has been placed on a restricted list by the FDA to help it maintain its effectiveness against bacterial infections and not lose its capability as a “heavy hitter” antibiotic. It works by restricting and inhibiting the advance of the bacterial microbes by preventing their replication as well as restoring the genetic DNA material. It has been FDA certified since 1987.

How Taken

Generic Baycip or Ciprofloxacin needs to be ingested exactly as defined by your primary health care provider who prescribed the medication to you. One should not consume this medication in huge dosages and it should follow a strict procedural protocol and time span. The pills must be swallowed followed by a full 8 ounce glass of water and further water should be consumed during the day, and each day you are taking the Generic Baycip or Ciprofloxacin to make sure you do not suffer dehydration.

Missed Dose

If you should forget to take a dose or miss a tablet, take the missed dose as soon as you realize you’ve forgotten it. If it is very near your next dosage period than forget about the missed pill and just continue to follow your normal drug schedule routine. It is never a good idea to take twice as much medication of any variety to balance any neglected or lapsed medications and this one is no exception. If you are concerned about this you should consult with your prescribing physician for further instructions about proceeding with your medication protocol.
