Generic Cipro Ciprofloxacin [Cipro®, Ciproxin®] is a broad spectrum antibiotic taken by mouth and is part of the drug family referred to as fluoroquinolones. Generic Cipro is now available in upwards of 100 countries worldwide and is an approved treatment for 14 infectious illnesses, specifically infection of the urinary tract [or UTI’s], including sensitive uncomplicated cystitis, pyelonephritis, and chronic bacterial prostatitis as a partial list. The result is a break in the bacterial chromosome that inhibits the germ microbe cell from reproducing.
